A ranking describes observed positioning on a defined surface and window. A strong ranking can indicate surface strength but does not prove an actor leads the business market; a weak ranking does not prove commercial weakness. No revenue, market-share, or leadership claim.
Why a brand does not rank sets out the checks needed before treating a missing name as observed absence. Why competitors appear more often sets out the conditions under which a difference in appearances can be read at all. What is the difference between Rankings and Authority?
Authority is the source-of-record layer for governed verdicts. Rankings is the distribution layer that helps readers find, compare, filter, and cite those ranking readings.
Can a brand lead the real market and still rank weakly here?
Yes. The business market and the positioning surface are different layers. A brand can be commercially strong and still be weakly visible, weakly cited, or weakly framed on an AI/search surface.
