Good Schools Guide and ISC divide the first organic rows. AI openings and citations give that recurring cast a different order—and specific school questions bring other names forward.

Quick answer

Which sources appear across London's education search and AI results?

Good Schools Guide heads 7 of London's 12 published organic top-five tables and ISC the other 5, from June 15–September 27, 2026. Both domains appear in every table, but their positions and the roles of other sources differ across search and AI Overviews. The UK-scoped record therefore describes a recurring education-information network, not a league table of London schools.

At a glance — key facts

  • The same sources can occupy different positions. Good Schools Guide and ISC recur organically while their order changes.
  • Citation has a particularly stable pair. YouTube is first and Good Schools Guide second in all ten published citation selections.
  • Openings have more than one leading source. Government, platform and guide domains each head some of the eleven opening tables.
  • Specific questions narrow the picture. London private-school, UK boarding-school and fee queries return distinct source selections.

A recurring pair does not mean an unchanging order

The organic history starts with Good Schools Guide first on June 15–21. ISC then occupies the first row in seven consecutive published windows, June 29–August 16. Good Schools Guide is first again in the six windows from August 17–September 27.

The recurring identities matter more than a simple story of one taking over from the other. The first reading uses median position across runs where a source appeared; later readings order the panel by how often a source holds the top organic position. June 22–28 has no published organic table in this history. The sequence is inspectable, but it is not an uninterrupted comparison under one unchanged ranking basis.

Published organic historyFirst-row countRole behind the domain

isc.co.uk5 of 12 tablesRepresentation of independent-school associations

Both domains appear in all 12 tables. The June 29–July 5, August 10–16, August 17–23 and September 21–27 readings make the sequence's boundaries visible. Their publishing/advisory and association roles are established separately by the organizations.

Position also differs from breadth. In the July 6–12 organic table, ISC is first with 18% displayed observed presence, while Good Schools Guide is second with 27%. The table is ordered by frequency of the top position, not by those presence percentages. Reading the latter as the ranking would reverse what the publication measures.

Citation stability sits beside changing openings

Across the ten published AI Citation selections, June 15–September 20, youtube.com is first and goodschoolsguide.co.uk second in every one. This is repeated published ordering. The YouTube row identifies the hosting platform, leaving the schools, channels and other creators behind the cited material unresolved.

Opening selections tell a different story. Of eleven published tables, YouTube heads five, Good Schools Guide three and gov.uk three. All three domains occur in every opening table. A stable cast is therefore compatible with different sources occupying the opening position.

One matched week brings those differences together. September 14–20: Google desktop, United Kingdom, 105 queries per run and seven comparable runs. Each column below keeps its own ordering measure.

Sources: organic, opening and citation. Organic order uses top-position frequency; opening and citation order use their respective cumulative volumes. The domain and named-organization labels are preserved as displayed, without pooling them into a new entity score.

The following September 21–27 opening reading puts YouTube first, Good Schools Guide second and gov.uk third. It is a useful exception to treating the preceding week's government-led opening as permanent. There is no matching published citation window for that final week in the reviewed record.

A school question can produce a different result

The broad source network does not settle every question a family or school might ask. For “best private schools London,” mytopschools.co.uk has median best organic position 1 in all three published observations: June 29–July 5, July 27–August 2 and August 24–30.

For “best boarding schools UK,” topschoolguide.com has median best organic position 1 in its three observations, July 6–12, August 3–9 and August 31–September 6. These are Google organic positions for the exact question, not school recommendations. Different dates and questions prevent attributing the contrast to wording alone.

The September 7–13 fee query makes another task visible. Good Schools Guide has median position 1 and Westminster School position 2; Rathbones and Tax Adviser Magazine both have median position 3, although they occupy separate displayed rows. A provider, a guide and financial-information sources can all belong to the answer to a cost question.

The model account adds another view of education

The September 21 comparison records GPT-4o native and Claude Sonnet 4.6 native accounts of the market. The discussion extends from institutions to tutoring and advisory roles. This framing helps explain what an answer is talking about; it is not another measure of organic or citation position.

For an education organization, the combined record raises a sharper question than whether its name appears. Is the system returning a school, a source that explains schools, or a service around admission? The recurring guide and association domains show why visibility analysis has to include that information field. They do not identify a cause of any school's absence or a remedy for it.

FAQ

Does Good Schools Guide's position make it London's leading school?

No. Its observed position belongs to an information and advisory source. The reading does not rank schools by quality or outcomes.

Does YouTube's citation position show which school or creator is influential?

Not at that level of evidence. The repeated row identifies a host. Attributing it to a particular school or creator requires the cited page or channel identity.

Has the source mix improved or deteriorated over the period?

The record establishes recurring names and dated changes in published order. Different aggregation bases and gaps prevent a single quarter-long performance or quality trend.

Evidence basis and limits

The historical review covers all 86 published London education readings available through September 29, 2026: 12 Organic, 11 Opening, 10 Citation, 12 Query Spotlight, 28 Deep Narrative Capture Lens and 13 Model Watch publications. Organic and opening observations reach September 27; citations end September 20 and exact-query readings September 13. Model captures run through September 21. The editorial destination is London; measured acquisition is UK/GB.

Counts refer to membership or row position in published tables, not independent experiments, all possible search results or market share. Early organic and citation aggregation differs from later cumulative ordering; missing publications are not zero appearances. The citation history preserves its first/second ordering despite those differences, without establishing comparable shares over time. Method's comparability test explains the conditions required for stronger change claims.

Because recurring names are useful only when their roles are understood, the London source-identity context distinguishes the school, association, inspector and host behind a result. The exact fee question illustrates a narrower observation than the market tables; the ranking Decision Guide explains how that difference in scope bounds a comparison. For the wider relationship between institutions, programmes and services, the education context across destinations owns the next level of analysis.
